“I was inspired by my visits to islands such as Pantelleria and Antigua, where I have for years had holiday homes,” Armani continued. “Both places represent an ideal — a place to escape to and recharge in a natural setting.” Noting that the scent is rooted in nature and in water, Armani stated he developed the bottle’s shape from a drop of water. “For me the bottle is as much a tribute to the shape of woman, as it is to the beautiful form water makes.”

Mont Blanc goes to Inter Parfums - P&G trimming fragrance portfolio

After the earlier news that Procter & Gamble were to sell the license for Valentino fragrances to Puig, comes the announcement that Inter Parfums (who create scents for Burberry, Paul Smith and Van Cleef amongst others) have signed a license agreement to create, produce and distribute perfumes and ancillary products under the Mont Blanc brand. This agreement is for ten and a half years and will take effect on July 1, 2010.

How to Know Which Perfumes Contain Pheromones

Perfume made from Michael Jackson's hair DNA launched

An American perfume manufacturing company has launched late pop legend Michael Jackson's perfume - made using DNA samples from his hair.

The company called My DNA Fragrance claim to engineer scents from human genetic codes and they have recently teamed up with hair collec...tor John Reznikoff, who has the world's largest collection of historical hair - including some of Jackson's for a scent, reports thesun.co.uk.

"DNA can be extracted from hair shafts with or without the follicle intact. My DNA Fragrance has analysed Reznikoff's private collection of celebrity hair and is now engineering exclusive fragrances of each celebrity," read a statement on the website of the company.

After Iris, Oeillet (carnation) and Cuir Ambre the new nes to join the collection are No. 8 Opoponax - “a soft touch of bergamot refreshes the warm blend of oppoponax in essence as well as in resinoide, cistus, santal and amber.

”No. 9 Benjoin - “the bitter orange tree... allies with the resinous sweet balsamic scent of benzoin enhanced by vanilla and musk.” No. 10 Myrrhe - “a surprising combination of fresh citrussy bergamot and cedrat from Italy, with aromatic lavender,and charismatic patchouli and myrrh.” All these are prized in the international market at (whopping!) $150.
